My Path Job Coach

POSITION TITLE:  Job Coach 

REPORTS TO:  Designated Employment Specialist

STATUS:  Non-exempt 

WAGE:  $25-$30 per hour

SCHEDULE: Flexible schedule with Part Time and Full Time options

JOB SUMMARY: 

To provide individualized on the job training and follow-up support services, enhancing employability and job retention. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides necessary job shadowing support (on site job training or coaching), to ease transition of workers into community business sites. 

  • Assists participants in transferring generalized learned skills to a new site making adjustments that are necessary. 

  • Assists participants in meeting production demands of the employment position during their training-in period. 

  • Provides an open channel of communication with the employer, families, other team members and employment specialist in regard to progress and performance. 

  • Adapts to a number of work site environments involving a variety of tasks, duties, employer/employee relationships, new production rates (of different jobs), operations and procedures, etc. 

  • Assists the employer in modification/restructuring of jobs for workers with disabilities, when necessary. 

  • Arranges scheduled follow-up visits to provide job stabilization support services for employer and worker, as appropriate. 

  • Completes time studies on supported employees in the community to monitor and establish commensurate wage. 

  • Ensures accurate and appropriate record keeping required by Blue Sky, Inc. and government agencies. 

  • Provides participant performance data to Employment Specialists on a timely basis. 

  • Consults with Employment Specialist to assist in determination of case closure, staffing, continued or auxiliary services suggested. 

  • Assists participants in developing transportation independence. 

  • Assists job candidates in transition to community employment through developing social skills, personal awareness and understanding of each individual abilities as well as limitations. 

  • Provide assistance and coverage at My Path work sites when needed. 

  • Conducts oneself as a positive role model for participants in terms of appearance, socialization, conversation and teamwork. 

  • Files paperwork as necessary. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to twist, stoop, bend, pull, push, stand, sit and walk for up to 8 hours a day. 

  • Able to lift and carry products up to 25 pounds daily. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience working with people with disabilities.

  • Car necessary. 

  • Approved background and List of Excluded Individuals and Entities checks.
